This event was actually an occultation of Saturn and the Moon but due to some thin clouds, daylight and the very low to the horizon position of the Moon by the time I had located it the occultation had finished.

The crescent Moon was on show last night just before setting so as I had my gear out thought I'd have a go at capturing it.
It's not one of the sharpest images around but still it breaks up all the solar posts. Here is a bit of a different idea for a picture of the Moon and it is quite simply done in post processing by selecting "inverse" in Photoshop. I think it adds a whole new outlook on a familiar subject. Give it a try next time, it's easier than you think.
There is still plenty of room for improvement though, hopefully next full Moon I can sharpen things up. I took this with my Skywatcher 150PL and Canon 450D and is a stack of around 200 shots. |
